Free Rating Updater for MyMovies and Windows Media Center
I love my media center, even more since I found the awesome (free) plugin MyMovies, which allows you to add meta information to your movies. Besides covers of dvds they provide a platform to add movie description, artist details and more. One additional field which is available for every movie is the “Rating” field.
Unfortunately, this field is not set for most of the movies (at least for most of the movies I have, and I have a lot). That’s the reason why I developed an application called RatingUpdater which grabs the information of all my movies (mymovies) and grabs the related IMDB rating value.
RatingUpdater is available for free H E R E. Let me know if you problems or questions.

For Windows Vista the Microsoft .net Framework 3.5 is required. It is available for free here:
This is already integrated in Windows 7.

Crashes as soon as I run the program. I know that isn’t much help, but it just crashes and Vista comes up with RatingUpdater has stopped working.

I’m having problems running this app on a Server 2003.
I did install dotNetFx35setup.exe first. When I start RatingUpdater, it shows the frame for a couple of seconds, and I see a title bar with the title Rating Updater 1.01 || http://www.michbex.com, however this only shows for a couple of seconds and then goes away. I do also see a process called RatingUpdater, however, it also only appears for a couple of seconds.
After I have tried to start it couple of times, Microsoft Error Reporting shows up, and says “Some unexpected error have happened to software you recently used. You were not asked to send these error reports at the time they occured.” Below I see a list, where I can see at what time these errors occured. They all seem the same error, only difference is the timestamp.
If I click on one of these reports I get a windows with a Error Signature and Reporting Details. Signature says:
EventType: clr20r3 P1: Ratingupdater.exe P2: 1.0.0.0
P3: 49974032 P4: Presentationcore P5: 3.0.0.0 P6: 470bc96a
P7: 2423 P8: 1d P9: system.typeloadexception
The reporting details don’t seem intersting. At the buttom I can select “View the contents of the error report” and it gives me the following:
Error Report: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application data\PCHealth\ErrorRep\QSignoff\409FF.cab
The Error Report contains the following files:
ratingupdater.exe.mdmp
version.txt
mdmpmem.hdmp

Doesn’t work on Vista, or doesn’t work with client/server v 2.52
pop’s up a dialog box that says I must have mymovies client + server installed (which, of course, I do). Then hangs with the opening banner graphic on the screen - I have to hunt down the processes and end it to recover.
*sigh* - Great concept though, I’ve been thinking about this for a while.

My install say something like “MyMovies client and server required” and it won’t install. As far as I can tell, MyMovies client and server package is installed. The install flash screen must be filled via task manager.
